What’s new for Meeplace 2.8

After two months’ work, With a lot of cool features integrated, Meeplace 2.8 will be officially released tomorrow. If you are interested in this, please continue reading this article.
Now I will introduce some great features to you:
Feature 1: Multi-language Support
Now, Meeplace can automatically judge the language of the visitor’s browser. When you visit Meeplace for the first time, Meeplace will be displayed with the same language as your browser. Also you can click the language you want to switch, and Meeplace will leave a cookie in your browser. Next time you visit Meeplace, the language you set last time will be shown. And in the first release of multi-language, only English and Simplified Chinese added, because I only know these two languages. Also if you are interested in making a new language pack, you can follow the steps. And don’t forget to contribute your language pack to us if you like. Many thanks!
Make a Language Pack for Meeplace:
1. Go to /languages/
2. Create a folder, name it as the region name. like en-us. with all small letters.
3. Copy /languages/zh-cn/text.php as a sample file to the folder you create above.
4. Modify the variables in this file. First you should know English =D
5. Edit /languages/list.php add two variables.. one is language text which will be shown on the Language Bar on header, another is a flag icon filename.
6. Create a flag icon picture to /theme/default/images/flags. Name it as the file name you leave in Step 5.
Feature 2: User Galleries
With a new AJAX user galleries, user can share their photos and set one as avatar.
Feature 3: Auto Generated Maps
Now Meeplace will auto-generate maps for each listing and also give you the option to verify the location is correct.
When you adding a business, after you typed in the business address or selected the city/states, a keyword list will show below the map, you can check the keywords you want to let Google Map search for the accurate position. Or you can also type in the keywords directly.
Also in admin panel, the Map Settings will allow you to locate your physical position with HTML5 technology (IE do not support HTML5).
Feature 4: Facebook Connect
Due to Facebook modified their developer API. Now I can’t get ‘Email’ field from Facebook. So after visitor log in Meeplace with FacebookConnect for the first time, Meeplace will guide visitor to complete the email address and optional nickname. With email address, visitors can enjoy fully with Meeplace. What fun? Read the following.
Feature 5: New Notification
Yes! Now, when you submit or claim a business, you will receive an email about the result when admin made a decision. Also admin will receive an email when users claim a business, submit a business, or submit an event.
Feature 6: Star Business Listings
Business will be able to have star listings. Star listings will appear higher then other listings on your site.
Aha! What ideas coming up? Make money? Maybe yes, you can custom the code to make Star Biz a special CSS or some more features.

27. Fix – Review order fixed for the first page static reviews.
28. Fix – New rating rule for star picture adjusted.(Score more than 4.75 will be 5 stars)
29. Fix – Up to 100 items per page for Business List in admin panel.
30. Fix – Because of the adjustment of Facebook’s API , Facebook Connect script modified.
31. Fix – Remove the display of a person’s last name if they didn’t enter it in during sign up
32. Fix – Now allow ‘ in categories and cities name.
33. Fix – Fixed if event doesn’t have a end date, it displays itself in the Today section.
34. Fix – Fixed permalink bug when adding business.
35. Developer – Kernal functions like turn_date(), utf_substr() etc upgraded. Fully supported eastern languages, custom time format.
36. Developer – New kernal files re-coded to be OOP classes.
